                                          Appointments

Appointments can be made by calling our office staff during regular business hours at (847) 501-4040.  Please plan your well child care appointments ahead of time, as there may be busy times during the year when appointments fill up in advance.  Particularly busy times occur during camp and school physical season, as well as during flu season.

                                          Telephone Calls

Phone calls may be directed to the front desk, the nursing staff, or directly to a physician voicemail.  Issues regarding appointments and paperwork should be handled by the front desk.  Simple medical questions, such as medication dosages, can often be handled by our nursing staff.  The nursing staff will check messages periodically throughout the day.  Non-urgent medical messages can be left directly to the physician's personal voicemail, but these messages are typically not checked until the end of the work day.

Most days, the office opens at 8:30 AM.  Please call between 8:30 and 10:30 AM if you need a sick visit for that day; the earlier we know you need to be seen, the easier it is for us to get you an appointment.  In order to minimize hold times on the phone, if you are calling about a routine matter or to schedule a well child visit, we ask that you call in the middle of the day when the phone lines are not as busy.

Urgent calls are returned as soon as possible, and more routine calls will be returned as time permits.  If your call is not returned in a reasonable amount of time, please check back with us; occasionally, numbers are copied down incorrectly, or messages are not fully received due to poor phone reception.

Emergency calls are referred to the doctors immediately, and should not be left as messages.  Please hold to speak to us directly, so that we may assist you more quickly and efficiently.  In the event of an emergency, please clearly explain the problem to the receptionist or nurse and your call will be given top priority.  After hours, on weekends, or on holidays, state the nature of the emergency and leave your phone number with the answering service.  As always, in a true emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Finally, calls placed to the answering service when the office is closed will be returned by the physician on call.  If a message for the doctor is left with the answering service and your call is not returned within 15-20 minutes, please call again.  Occasionally, pages are mishandled, so please do not hesitate to call back if you do not hear from us.  Please note that we currently do NOT charge for after-hours pages or phone calls.

                                          New Patients

You may also call to schedule an appointment (check-up or sick visit) with one of the physicians by calling (847) 501-4040.  If you are interested in meeting the physician before scheduling an appointment, please let us know.  The physicians are happy to meet with you before you bring your child in for medical care; this will allow us to orient you to the office, get to know you and your family, and answer any questions that you may have.

Please note: if you are transferring to us from another pediatric practice, the physicians like to review previous medical records in order to fully get to know your child and your family.  This can be done either prior to seeing you, or with you at your first appointment.  Often, the physicians request that the child's full medical records be transferred to us for review, which can be done by mail or fax.  These records should include:
                                          • immunization records
                                          • growth charts
                                          • previously done blood tests, X-Rays, CT or MRI scans, or other laboratory or radiology testing
                                          • notes or referral letters from specialists that your child has seen
